Pursuit of Career #4
If you've read my past two blogs you are probably wondering if this blog post is about becoming an Architect, a news anchor, or a kindergarden teacher. Well, I've decided to switch things up and totally bite off another comedy show. Maybe I wanna be an experimental physicist, or an astronaut, or even a waiter at the Cheesecake factory...wait what. Or maybe I should take this assignment a little more seriously. In my last post I discussed a desire to work in the field of environmental law. In terms of UCs(my preferred university), the best universities for undergraduate law would be Berkeley, Los Angeles, and Davis. UC Davis really appeals to me because 1) they have a great environmental law program 2) the campus is awesome 3) and my brother goes there. This is a university I'm really looking forward to learn about.

Pursuit of Career #3
As each day passes, a global epidemic continues to become larger and more devastating. This dilemma affects the entire population, yet some are still unaware of the serious consequences. The condition of our environment is a controversial issue that will be detrimental to the future of our society. Preserving the environment is necessary to stop global warming, species extinction, reduction of air/water quality, and environmental degradation...Well damn, that's seriously seriousness. I'll be honest, I'm not gonna sit here and type away about how much of an environmental Superman I am (leave that for "All Star Stan and "Keep it Clean Jean"), but I believe that in modern society, much more could be done to support the eco-friendly movement. So recently, I've been pondering a future in Environmental Law. This field of study appeals to me for two reasons. First, I want to be involved in the preservation of our environment. Second, suing large corporate companies for millions of dollars sounds like fun (Although my last blog post was about becoming a wealthy business man). In all seriousness, One day WHEN the world is no longer plagued with environmental issues (yes I am incredibly optimistic), I want to be able to say that I contributed to saving the world and ultimately, creating a better future for generations to come.

Pursuit of Career #2
These past few years I've become an avid fan of CBS's hit TV show How I Met Your Mother, and obviously, my favorite character is the womanizing suit lover, Barney Stinson. I was always fascinated with how his job allowed him to do nothing, while getting an extremely high salary. Whenever there was a conversation about Barney's career, I listened carefully, hoping to finally figure out his mysterious job. But every time it came up, he nonchalantly replied with a smirk saying"please", and changing the subject. The only thing I knew, was that it involved business. I always knew that going into business would be a safer route, because of the abundance and demand in that category. Looking at the possible career options I considered finance, marketing, and human resources. These careers appealed to me because they had higher salaries and projected growth within the next 10 years (also, I get to wear a suit almost everyday). A career in business seems to satisfy financially(usually)(hopefully)(probably not), but whether or not I will find it enjoyable is an essential question.

Pursuit of Career #1
As we all know, every human being is entitled to their right of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. But every person has their own individual definition of happiness. Personally, happiness is maintaining healthy and caring relationships, without having to worry about economic problems. Defining happiness is the easy part, but knowing that the career you choose to pursue will ultimately play a massive role in guiding you there... well that's a lot of pressure. This single decision could define the remainder of your life and determine whether you will be "happy"or not. If you are now paranoid about your future career path (don't worry you are not alone), these are my list of factors that will help me (and potentially you) decide on future career options: expertise in the field of study, enjoyability, number of available jobs in California, and the salary; let's face it, this is probably the most important factor. Because I am unaware of the possible field of study, let's take a look at possible rising career opportunities with acceptable salaries and high availability in California. Through my research (a yahoo article), the best fit jobs would be a medical scientist or a biomedical engineer. Uhm? what? Basically, a medical scientist studies biological systems to achieve a greater understanding of health, and requires a doctorate or a medical degree. A biomedical engineer designs and oversees artificial organs and x-ray machines, requiring a bachelors or a doctorate. Well I guess I'm going to be a doctor after all, Mom (yay stereotypes!). In all seriousness, I don't excel in science nor do I particularly enjoy it, but I'll keep those on the back burner for now. As you can see, figuring out what you will do with your life is not going to be an overnight epiphany or a sudden thought, but an idea that is heavily contemplated and discussed.
