The Back Up Plan
Although my last few posts have been about careers in environmental law, I decided to switch things up to discuss backup plans just in case environmental law doesn't work out. So I thought to myself, what are some potential jobs that could be a great back up plan? And the first thing that popped into my head was "what my dad does". I'm actually not completely sure what my dad does, so after spending too much time listening to his lecture about his career and what he does on a daily basis, I learned that he is an account manager and he basically manages accounts (in summary). Now, I know that various people claim that going into the same career as your dad is lame (unless your the President, or Will Smith or something along those lines), but a career as an account manager actually seems very interesting and enjoyable. I look forward to exploring this career and learning more information about it.

Pursuit of Career #5
Located in the Central North Pacific Ocean, an ecological catastrophe twice the size of Hawaii continues to gather "garbage" everyday. This enormous landfill is known as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch or Pacific Trash Vortex. The patch is filled with plastic debris and chemical sludge. Statistics show that nearly 80% of the trash is from a land source, while the other 20% comes from ships. Oh, and did I mention that it's twice the size of Hawaii?! How could something so large and dangerous ever exist without being apparent to the entire world? Seeing this "garbage island" reminded me why the environment is so important. The ocean surrounds every continent and makes up 70% of the entire world, and if nothing is done, the island could grow bigger and pollute more of the water. Working as an environmental lawyer would allow me to help create anti-pollution laws to clean garbage island. But for now, let's hope it's gone by then.
